My name is Heidi and I started the Positive People Army because I have had moments in my life when I need an army of support or I have been involved in an army of support for someone else.
My entire life, according to my mother, I always cared for anyone who seemed like a “Lost Soul”. Anyone who truly knows me knows this has always been the case. I have always felt a calling to help and inspire and now I would like to do that on a larger scale!
To give you a little background on me, please read my cover letter to Oprah, which I haven’t sent. My dream has always been to work for Oprah, but I’ve hesitated to send it because I strongly feel I am supposed to do something else at this point in my life.
To Whom It May Concern;
As a young child I was asked regularly what I wanted to be when I grew up. My answer was always “I have no idea, but I do know I am going to do something big”. This was the beginning of my amazing journey!
My first career began as a wedding photographer. I had absolutely no experience as a photographer, but that didn’t stop me. My passions for weddings lead me to learn everything about the business. At the height of my photography career I had five other photographers working for me and my company became the most sought after in the area. When I decided to walk away from a very successful business I was questioned by family and friends alike, but I knew it was not what I was supposed to be doing. Something else was waiting for me.
My next careers were exactly the same. I would fully immerse myself into learning everything I could and invest my entire soul in it. I owned my own wedding gown store, became a lifestyle editor for a popular wedding magazine, co-hosted a morning drive radio show and eventually television came knocking on my door. For six seasons I planned the most outrageous weddings for a popular wedding show, Rich Bride, Poor Bride. Each and every career was amazing and yet I knew it wasn’t what I was supposed to do! My inner voice kept telling me I was supposed to do more.
Working as a television host finally brought me to my recent career; producing television. In the beginning I produced one reality show after another. It wasn’t exactly what I was supposed to be doing, but I was starting to feel close. Two years ago I was asked to join the Marilyn Denis Show team as a makeover producer (the #1 Canadian Lifestyle Show). All of a sudden something changed. Day after day I started to realize I truly loved making a difference in people’s lives. Quickly my passion and drive to help people became my main focus on the show. It became very clear the numerous stories were resonating with our viewers. The ratings sky-rocketed!
I know what it means to be a team player, to put in the long hours and not be in the spotlight. I love to work hard and I love producing television that makes a difference.
I’ve produced hundreds of hours of television and I would love nothing more than to use my creativity to learn and grow for the OWN Network. OWN is about inspiring people to live their best lives; this is programming I want to be involved in. I also feel with my experience, passion and relentless drive I have a lot to offer OWN.
It is easy to hire a show producer, but it is a lot more difficult to find a producer who truly wants to inspire people with the power of television. That is what I am supposed to do and what I am looking to do for OWN. I would love the opportunity to discuss my qualifications and any opportunities available at OWN.

As I mentioned, I thought Oprah was my next journey, but for now I want the Positive People Army to be the next adventure in my life! I am not saying it will never be sent…it is just not the right time yet
