About
Janis Meredith was brought up in a sports family, married a man who has coached for 27 years, and has had three kids play sports from age 5 to college. She sees issues a bit differently, with a perspective of life from both sides of the bench–as a coach’s wife and as an athlete’s parent.
As a communications specialist and freelance writer, Janis’ three kids are now 23, 20, and 17. The older two played in college and the youngest is still playing in high school.
“I can honestly say, I’ve seen just about everything when it comes to sports parenting! And that’s why I feel so strongly about helping parents and young athletes make the most of their athletic experiences.”
Playing sports brings excitement and recognition. It may even help pay for college and open doors for the future, but nothing will ever be more important than the type of person your son or daughter becomes in the process.
